Navigating ADHD at school can require a lot of patience. You’ve been in the car line for 30 minutes, and your van door slides open. Instead of a smile, your son appears discouraged. He climbs in, throws his backpack, and buckles, not saying a word. In a mere 15 seconds, you can tell it wasn’t a good day.
Or maybe your daughter comes in from the bus stop. You greet her and ask about her day. She responds with, “Leave me alone” or “Fine.” But you know she’s not okay.
They don’t want to talk about it.
At 4:30 PM, you see an email from the teacher explaining the day’s challenges and asking for a good time to set up a call.
Your heart sinks. You know that you have an AMAZING kid. You trust the dedicated educators, but something just isn’t clicking. For your child, success at school seems to require so much more.
We have been there, and it can be really discouraging. However, we believe that children with ADHD can SHINE at school. We know that the school experience for our kids with ADHD can be an incredible one – with the right resources and support.
In the first season of our podcast, Shining with ADHD, we dedicated several episodes to helping parents advocate for the educational journey of their kids.
So whether you:
- Just started looking into the possibility that your child may have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Have a child who was recently diagnosed with ADHD
- Have known the diagnosis for a while now but need new strategies to help your child be more successful at school
We’ve got you covered. Check out ADHD at School: Essential Playlist for Parents and Educators to binge-listen the content and get all your questions answered.
